1. Discuss 4 tasks you completed or tried to complete in simulation lab.
. provided the patient with bath care
. assessed vitals and head to toe assessment completed on patient
. provided tracheostomy suctioning on patient successfully
. successfully identified patients unknown allergies
2. What did you learn most about the situation(s) you encountered in simulation lab?
stay calm and confident in every situation, it is much easier to do the seemingly impossible task ahead of you like CPR on an asystole patient with good teamwork, a calm and collected demeanor and confidence.
3. What will you do differently during your next simulation experience?
get tasks like medication administration completed more timely and efficiently and worry about smaller tasks later. I will also manage my time better to provide more efficient patient care
4. While watching your peers’ simulation experience, what are 3 things you learned?
. I learned that teamwork and communication between the group is what makes everything work, I feel my group did a pretty good job with communication and teamwork throughout our sim lab experience
. Donna is a quick thinker and is very good at prioritizing her tasks, I feel like i learned a lot from her during our sim lab
. Mr. Labounty stayed positive, calm and engaged despite our struggles and was very proficient at delegating tasks throughout the group to get things done, I feel I could benefit from that.
5. What 3 things did you learn in the classroom (didactic) that you put into practice during your simulation experience?
. providing and maintaining patient safety at all times, bed in lowest position, side rails X 3, 5 rights of med administration, patient identification and allergies
. sterile practice of procedures used to provide patient tracheostomy suctioning
. prioritizing patient care and tasks throughout the day and using Isbar for HCP calls.
